Something White for Something Right Video Released

Our friend Bridget from { First Kiss Films } documented all the fun we had at Something White for Something Right 2010. Bridget has uploaded the film and made it available for sharing. The video is beautifully shot on vintage film which was perfect for our event since this type of film really captured the magic and romance of the entire evening.

Quick 'thank you' following Something White for Something Right

We are still basking the afterglow of the huge success of Something White for Something Right... but wanted to quickly pop in and post a huge THANK YOU to all our vendors that were there the day of, our sponsors that were there in spirit and of course our beautiful (and handsome) guests !

We’re going to have a blog post in the near future that will go into greater detail about the event, how much we raised and will feature more photos and a video but for now, we wanted to tease you with this photo.

Help Sandra choose her wedding gown for Something White

Something White for Something Right http://www.somethingwhite.ca/ brings you Sandra and Carter from the KISS FM morning show as our emcees for a second year. Sandra is taking time to choose the right wedding dress this year since last year’s loaner wasn’t her most comfortable gown ;)

Wedding Dress Sale !

Don't fret, you didn't miss the grand opening at The White Dress. We will absolutely announce that in this blog (and Facebook and Twitter). This sale is coming to you from The Breast Dress Project which is something else Marry Me has our hand in ;)

If you didn't already know, The Breast Dress Project (TBDP) was a labour of love created by Jamie Johnston of Groovy Linen http://www.groovylinen.com/ and Stacey Price of Marry Me Productions.

Jamie was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 33. Jamie endured chemotherapy for almost all of 2009 and in December when she finished her treatment, TBDP was launched as one of the many ways Jamie and Stacey are giving back- trying to make a difference in the lives of women.

The idea is you can drop off your gently used wedding dresses which TBDP will sell to current brides-to-be, giving the profits of each dress sale to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation which raises money to fund research to find a cure for breast cancer.

It doesn't get any better than that: you're saving money, you're helping a fellow bride find her dream dress, you're being 'green' and your money is going to a great charity.

October is breast cancer awareness month so in honour of this, TBDP will be having a SALE on their current inventory on October 10 2010 (get it; 10-10-10).

The sale will take place at Groovy Linen's warehouse at 19 Grenfell Crescent (unit 12) from 9am-noon.

More exciting news! In anticipation of Something White for Something Right http://www.somethingwhite.ca/, TBDP will be 'renting' out their wedding dresses for $100 each for the evening, of course with all profits going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

So if you're a new bride looking for your wedding dress, or a guest of Something White this year, stop by Groovy Linen on Sunday October 10 from 9am-12pm to find the dress for you. The most exciting news of all ?? With every purchase, we're one step closer to finding a cure for breast cancer.

Our second annual Something White for Something Right gala, held at the Chateau Laurier on Saturday November 6 2010, has already sold a few tables and we only began selling tickets this week so we anticipate this year's event will be bigger than last year's (thank goodness we got a bigger room this year).

We don't want you to miss out so contact your girlfriends and begin planning the ultimate Girls Night Out ! Or bring your men too- they had a great time last year with us and looked fabulous in their white tuxes.

We're selling the tickets online again this year (via Paypal) and all the proceeds are going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Trip down Memory Lane...

Okay, so maybe it wasn't that long ago, but the planning for Something White for Something Right 2010 (it's Saturday November 13 2010 by the way) has made us feel nostalgic. We devoted this blog post to the gorgeous detail shots (courtesy of Sam and Mary Photography) from Something White for Something Right 2009. We hope you'll join us for the big event this year !

The dance floor was packed all night !

Inspirational speeches from a breast cancer fighter (and our close personal friend) Jamie Johnston from Groovy Linen. Our emcees for the evening included Sandra and Carter from the KISS FM morning show and Angie Poirier from the A Channel.

Our evening was sweetened with treats from The Flour Shoppe, The Candy Store and Cinfully Delicious.

These fun and flirty bouquets were designed by Flowers Talk. They were auctioned off later in the evening.

Cocktail hour outside the Drawing Room at The Chateau Laurier. During Cocktail hour, we had MellowD serenading us while makeup artists from Ottawa Makeup Artists and manicurists from Spa Angels pampered our guests. Escort cards designed by Tagz stationary.

Tables set for the delicious 4 course meal.... Menus designed by Tagz stationary.

These gorgeous centerpieces complemented the elegant architecture in the Drawing Room at The Chateau Laurier. The flowers were donated by Bel Fiore Flowers and Collectibles and were designed by Flowers Talk.

Something White for Something Right a Huge Success

The fundraiser was sold out, The Ottawa Citizen showed up, some guests had to be turned away at the door because they didn't have tickets.... all signs of a successful event. An event that was three years in the making for Stacey Price.

But the most important part of the evening was that we made a difference; we educated women (and men) on the importance of discovering and fighting breast cancer. This was done though inspirational speeches, handouts for performing a self examination and a moving video tribute of breast cancer survivors and fighters.

We hope to make this an annual event and we hope to make it larger every year so that everyone can be educated about breast cancer; a disease that 22,700 Canadian women will be diagnosed with in 2009 alone.

Thanks to everyone who made this event a huge success !

Exciting News !

Have you ever stared at that gorgeous wedding dress hidden deep in your closet thinking about how fast the big day went and how you'd love to wear it one last time? Well Marry Me Productions has the event for you !

Something White for Something Right will take place on Saturday November 7 2009 (starting at 5:00pm) at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa. The idea behind it is that all ladies must wear their wedding dress (or something else all white- including your men!)

The evening will include cocktails, makeup application, jewellery rentals, a four course meal, live entertainment, dancing and amazing prizes. All proceeds from the evening will benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Tickets are $150 each or purchase a table for 8 guests for $1,000.
