Wedding Dress Sale !

Don't fret, you didn't miss the grand opening at The White Dress. We will absolutely announce that in this blog (and Facebook and Twitter). This sale is coming to you from The Breast Dress Project which is something else Marry Me has our hand in ;)

If you didn't already know, The Breast Dress Project (TBDP) was a labour of love created by Jamie Johnston of Groovy Linen
http://www.groovylinen.com/ and Stacey Price of Marry Me Productions.
Jamie was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 33. Jamie endured chemotherapy for almost all of 2009 and in December when she finished her treatment, TBDP was launched as one of the many ways Jamie and Stacey are giving back- trying to make a difference in the lives of women.

The idea is you can drop off your gently used wedding dresses which TBDP will sell to current brides-to-be, giving the profits of each dress sale to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation which raises money to fund research to find a cure for breast cancer.

It doesn't get any better than that: you're saving money, you're helping a fellow bride find her dream dress, you're being 'green' and your money is going to a great charity.

October is breast cancer awareness month so in honour of this, TBDP will be having a SALE on their current inventory on October 10 2010 (get it; 10-10-10).

The sale will take place at Groovy Linen's warehouse at 19 Grenfell Crescent (unit 12) from 9am-noon.

More exciting news! In anticipation of Something White for Something Right http://www.somethingwhite.ca/, TBDP will be 'renting' out their wedding dresses for $100 each for the evening, of course with all profits going to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

So if you're a new bride looking for your wedding dress, or a guest of Something White this year, stop by Groovy Linen on Sunday October 10 from 9am-12pm to find the dress for you. The most exciting news of all ?? With every purchase, we're one step closer to finding a cure for breast cancer.

For more information on TBDP visit their website http://thebreastdressproject.ca/ or listen to Jamie and Stacey explain its importance in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqrUuKUGFww

Looking forward to seeing everyone there !

First Dress Sold Through Breast Dress Project

This past Saturday was the grand opening of Breast Dress Project (headquartered at Groovy Linen). Through the generosity of so many women, we were able to put on display over 60 dresses, sizes 2 to 22, white & ivory, classic & modern, new & used... and the best part? All were priced under $500 !

We had a blast meeting all the wonderful brides-to-be, their family and friends and all the vendors that were there on Saturday from 9am to 1pm.

Check out this video from Reno Video Productions about the grand opening:

Thank-you to everyone who came to support the project on Saturday, we wanted to share the first sale of the day with you...The beautiful bride-to-be is Shantal and she is getting married in the Dominican Republic this October. Her stunning dress was donated by Christine. Because of Christine, Shantal has a gorgeous dress to wear for her wedding day. Because of Shantal, The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation will receive a large donation that could save another woman's life. It's women helping women and it's beautiful.

We are always taking more dresses. Please visit our website for more information:

Breast Dress Project: Open for Business

Before any big event, one needs a dress rehearsal.

Through the support of countless women in the community, we were able to secure over 50 wedding dresses and we're finally ready for our 'dress rehearsal'- or more accurately...your dress rehearsal.

Marry Me Productions along with Groovy Linen will be hosting 'soirees' (at Groovy Linen), allowing brides-to-be an opportunity to try on the beautiful dresses in stock.

The soirees will be held April 1, April 20, May 11 and May 25. You can try on the dresses by appointment only, to ensure clients have the attention they deserve. Appointments will be available from 7-8pm and 8-9pm.

To book your appointment, head to The Breast Dress website http://www.thebreastdressproject.ca/ and click on "the dresses" link (to see which dresses you want to be introduced to) and click on "book an appointment TRY IT ON".

All the proceeds from the sale of the dresses will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. For more information, please visit http://www.thebreastdressproject.ca/ or view our informational video on You Tube; http://tiny.cc/1d6ec

The Breast Dress Project

Marry Me Productions and Groovy Linen have joined forces to create 'The Breast Dress Project'. The Breast Dress Project was launched in November 2009 in conjunction with Something White for Something Right by two friends committed to making a difference in the lives of women. Not only will the Brest Dress Project raise funds for breast cancer research but it will provide an opportunity for future brides to feel beautiful on their special day too.

Excited to help ? It could not get any easier. Just drop off your gently used wedding dress (it doesn't even have to be cleaned) to Groovy Linen at 19 Grenfell Crescent Unit 11. Please see http://www.groovylinen.com/ for store hours. You will be asked to fill out a small (confidential) questionnaire when you drop off the dress. Easy questions like: the size of the dress, was it altered from the original size, is there any damage, where was it purchased, what was the purchase price etc. We are also hoping that you'll include a photo of yourself in the dress. You can request that your face not be shown. We'll also gladly accept veils and shoes if you have them.

Once our inventory is large enough, we will be hosting soirees so that brides-to-be can come by Groovy Linen and try on the dresses they are interested in. More information will be posted once our first soiree is organized.

Don't worry about not having a dress to wear for Something White for Something Right 2010 if you give away your wedding dress. Women can wear their wedding dress but it's not a requirement, anything white will do. This year we saw women in their original wedding dresses, second hand wedding dresses, borrowed wedding dresses and all white outfits. So don't let the fact that Something White has become and annual event, stop you from helping us find a cure for breast cancer and making another bride's wedding day magical.

Our website is still under construction but eventually more information will be available at http://www.breastdressproject.com/

For the time being if you have questions, feel free to contact Jamie at 613-723-5755, jamie@groovylinen.com, or Stacey at 613-796-3629, stacey@marrymeproductions.ca

Thank you to everyone for helping us making a difference. We will find a cure for breast cancer.
